Joan Burens Sasso Obituary

Joan Burens Sasso, 76, of Braddock Hills, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011, at home. She was born Dec. 27, 1934, in Clairton, a daughter of the late Vincent J. "Happy" Burens and Goldie B. Ward. She lived for 40 years in Braddock Hills and Clairton and was a secretary at the U.S. Steel Building in Pittsburgh. Joan was a dog breeder and shower and was a member of the Pittsburgh Afghan Hound Club. She is survived by her husband, Leonard E. Sasso, of Braddock Hills; brother, Harold "Pegi" (Virginia) Burens, of Jefferson Borough; and a nephew, Vincent. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the S. M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. Sixth St., Clairton. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Randy Sweet officiating. Interment will be at the Monongahela Cemetery immediately after the service.
