Jay Cameron Trainer, 60, of Jefferson Hills, died Friday, Sept. 29th, 2023, at the Asbury Heights Nursing Facility in Mt. Lebanon. He was born at McKeesport Hospital on May 14, 1963, to Charlotte (Cameron) Trainer and the late John William Trainer Sr. He is survived by his mother, Charlotte, of Jefferson Hills; two sisters, Cynthia Wyne of South Park, and Genevieve Rae of Jefferson Hills; two brothers, John William Trainer Jr. of Carroll Township, and Timothy R. Trainer of South Park; and many nieces and nephews.
Jay graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in Pleasant Hills and earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Point Park University in Pittsburgh. Jay liked to fish, watch sports, and read science fiction and fantasy stories. He was particularly knowledgeable regarding Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings and the history of Middle Earth. Jay loved the Penguins, Steelers, and Pirates; participated in fantasy football leagues; and enjoyed spending time with family, especially his nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to S.M FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St., Clairton, PA 15025. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a reception to follow at Yoli’s Cucina and Crafthouse on Route 885 (the old Barella’s). In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to either the American Diabetes Association or the Jefferson Hills Public Library.
