Walter Edward “Lurge” Zamko, 91, of Jefferson Hills, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2017. He was born May 18, 1926, in Duquesne, to the late Michael and Tillie Kaniecki Zamko. Walter was a loving husband of 51 years to the late Gertrude “Do Do” Janci Zamko who passed away in 2003. He is survived by daughters, Pam Zamko Kaska of West Newton, Joy Zamko (Howard) Galliford of Millerville, MD; grandchildren, Drew & Amber Kaska, and Lindzey, Amanda & Patrick Galliford; great-grandchild, Viera Joy Galliford. Along with his parents and wife, Walter was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Zamko; sisters, Julia Kish, Mary Zamko, Frances Zamko; and brother, Anthony Zamko. He served in the US Army in WWII in Germany, worked as a Millwright for US Steel Irvin Works in West Mifflin for over 40 years, enjoyed traveling, being a handyman, boating and spending time with his grandchildren. Family and friends will be received from 4 – 7 pm on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at S. M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 432 N 6th Street, Clairton, PA 15025. A mass will take place at St. Clare of Assisi Church, 460 Reed Street, Clairton, PA 15025 on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 10:00 am, presided by Charles Baptiste, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery in Port Vue.
