Rose Marie Kennedy, 79, of Glassport, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at the Heath South Care Center of Pittsburgh. She was born in Glassport on December 24, 1927, to the late Marco and Giovannina Marcozzi DiMarco. Rose worked in food/restaurant service for the Glass House and Joe Winzek Catering, both in Glassport, and worked for the South Allegheny School District. She was a member of the Queen of the Rosary Catholic Church in Glassport, a member of the Christian Mothers, a committeewoman for the First Ward District of Glassport, the Glassport Democrats, and was active with the voting board and board of elections. Mrs. Kennedy was also the former treasurer and member of the Glassport Volunteer Fire Dept. No. 1 Ladies Auxiliary, a former Girl Scout Leader, and Boy Scout Den Mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Kennedy Sr.; and three brothers, Dominic, Joseph and Orlando DiMarco. Survivors include three sons, Joseph W. (Bobbie J.) Kennedy Jr., Irwin, John (Brenda) Kennedy, Bunola, and Richard (Evelyn) Kennedy, Pleasant Hills; one daughter, Shirley (David Young) Hodge, McKeesport; two brothers, Samuel "Turk" (Theresa) DiMarco, Glassport, and Fiore "Fuzzy" (Patty) DiMarco, Liberty Borough; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends Friday, February 23, 2007, from 2-4, 7-9 pm at the E.C. Finney Funeral Home Inc., 235 Monongahela Ave., Glassport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 10 am at the Queen of the Rosary Catholic Church with Father Casimir Kedzierski as celebrant. Interment will follow in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon Twp.
