Mr. John Angelo Palmiero passed away on February 5, 2016, in the comfort of his home. He was born October 24, 1922 in Colla Sonita, Italy to the late Teofilo and Nicolina Palmiero, and was raised in Braddock, PA. He survived by his wife Bernice Heiser Palmiero of Glassport; daughter Colleen (Gary) Percival of Aiken, SC; granddaughter Stacey Percival of New York City, and grandson John Percival of Aiken, SC, as well as brothers Frank Palmiero of Powell, OH; Joseph Palmiero of Vera Beach, FL, and Nicholas Palmiero of North Huntingdon, PA. He was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Glassport. John served in World War II and the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge for his years of service in the US Navy in 1953, as an Electrician’s Mate First Class. John retired as a foreman from Mesta Machine in August of 1983. He was active in the Sons of Italy and Glassport Lion’s Club where he served as president from 1993 to 1994. He liked to play golf, the violin, and the guitar. He was a big Pittsburgh sports fan and loved to tell everyone about Mazeroski’s home run, and Franco Harris’ immaculate reception. He took pride in his gardening and sharing his harvest with all the neighbors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, ASPCA, Humane Society, or a charity of your choice. Family and friends will be received on Monday, February 8, 2016, from 3P to 7P at E.C. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 235 Monongahela Ave, Glassport, PA 15045.
