Helen Hackenburg, 93, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016. She was born March 26, 1922, to the late Alex Pushy and Clotilda Markus, in Manhattan, New York. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-nine years Joseph E. Hackenburg. She is survived by a son, Russell J. (Karen) Hackenburg, of Lincoln Place, and four grandchildren: Raymond Hackenburg of Bunnell, Florida; Lori (Joseph) Straw of West Mifflin; Russell Hackenburg and Jill Hackenburg, both of Lincoln Place. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren: Jacob, Raya, and Nolan. Along with her parents and husband, Helen was also preceded in death by a twin sister, Edith Rempis. Helen loved playing bingo, and cooking for her family. She was a seamstress for A. Mamaux and Son, sewing canvas gun covers for the war, and later applying her sewing skills at Frank and Seder, making fur coats, retiring from McKeesport Hospital as a housekeeper in the late 1980s. She attended Bellefield Girls Vocational High School, graduating in 1938. Arrangements have been entrusted to S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th Street, Clairton, PA 15025.
