Virginia Kappler Freiwald

Virginia Kappler Freiwald, 98, died Sunday morning, May 17, 2015, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born September 18, 1916, to the late Charles W. and Ella Hamilton Kappler. She was the loving wife of the late Albert E. Freiwald, who passed in 1992. She is survived by a daughter, Cathy F. (George) Hebert of Sewickley Township (Suterville), and by a son, Ronal A. (Alberta) Freiwald of Pleasant Hills. In addition to her two children, Virginia is also survived by three grandchildren, Dr. Eric (Kelli) Freiwald of Jefferson Hills, Jerilyn (Steve) Simpson of Ross Township, and Brooke (Justin) Tennant of Peters Township. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Matthew, Nicholas, Alexis, Aaron Joseph, Sofia, Jackson, and Emma. To Virginia, her surviving grandchildren and great grand-children were the apple of her eye. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Blackley. Virginia was an avid lover of all things crafty and loved to knit and crochet, and was an excellent seamstress. In addition to her skills in the world of fiber arts, Virginia was also an excellent cook, and a wonderful baker. Virginia was also a proud member of the Clairton Order of the Eastern Star, and a faithful member of Pine Run United Methodist Church. She loved her family fiercely. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 20 from 2P to 4P and 6P to 8P at S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th Street, Clairton PA 15025. Service will take place Thursday, May 21, at 11A at the funeral home, presided over by Pastor Lota Jones and Pastor Michael Airgood, with interment following at Lebanon Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions be made in her memory to Pine Run United Methodist Church, 901 N. 6th Street, Clairton PA 15025.
