Raymond Cobak Obituary

Raymond Joseph Cobak, 90, of Pleasant Hills, formerly of McKeesport, passed away at home on Wednesday November 30, 2016. He was born February 6, 1926 in McKeesport to the late Joseph and Rachel Hagerty Cobak. Raymond is survived by brother, Robert (Pamela) Cobak Sr. of West Mifflin; nephews, Robert (Kimberly) Cobak Jr. of Cumming, GA, Michael Cobak of Murrysville; niece, Carol Shoemaker of Finleyville; great nieces & nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Mary C. Brown. Raymond served in the Navy during WWII in Germany and on The LST 380. He was a graduate of Duquesne University, a recreational pilot from 1960 – 2010 out of Finleyville Airport, a retired computer programmer of 39 years at US Steel Irvin Works in West Mifflin, a member of St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in McKeesport, a former usher for 20 years at St Elizabeth’s Church in Pleasant Hills, a member of American Legion Post 380 in Dravosburg, a former hunter, a Quiet Birdman, and loved animals. Family and friends will be received Sunday at I. M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 203 4th Street, Dravosburg, PA 15034. THE VISITATION HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM 4-7 TO 1-4 ONLY. Mass will be held Monday, December 5, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 310 32nd Street, McKeesport, PA 15132. Interment, with full military honors, will follow mass at Calvary Cemetery in Port Vue. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made the Humane Society.
