Nicholas Joseph Bekavac, 93, of Clairton, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at Southwestern Nursing Home. He was born Sept. 4, 1921, to the late Ante and Mary (Zuwadska) Bekavac. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Michael, John, Pete, Steve and Tom Bekavac; and two sisters, Helen and Ann. Nick worked at U.S. Steel, Millwright, for more than 35 years. Nick was a retired veteran of the Navy, serving in World War II and Korean War in Pacific and Europe. His ship, USS Glennon, was sunk at Normandy. He was a member of St. Clare of Assissi Parish and American Legion, Clairton. Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432. N 6th St., Clairton, PA 15025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, in St. Clare of Assissi Parish. Interment will follow at St. Clare Cemetery.
