Melva (Sims) Metzinger

Melva (Sims) Metzinger, 83, of Jefferson Hills, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at Jefferson Hospital. She was born Sept. 23, 1930, to the late John and Edna (Roberts) Sims. Melva was the wife of the late Richard Metzinger. She is survived by two daughters, Pat (Fred) Moninger, of Jefferson Hills, and Cindy (Fred) Zupanc, of Pleasant Hills; three sisters, Betty (Bill) Mattes, of Jefferson Hills, Maryann Chovan, of Jefferson Hills, and Linda (Rick) Moses, of Upper St. Clair; one brother, John (Grace) Sims Jr., of Baltimore, Md.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Gary and Harry Metzinger. Melva was a member of Wilson Presbyterian Church, WAC Club, Wilson Civic Association, VFW and the American Legion. Melva was an avid bingo and slot machine player; she was a great cook and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. Sixth St., Clairton. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wilson Presbyterian Church.
