Mary Winzek Obituary

Mary Winzek, 95, of Glassport, previously of McKeesport, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born May 6, 1919, in Van Meter, the daughter of the late Charles Vargo and Helen Yakim Vargo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Winzek Sr., of Glassport, (1989). Loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her children, Mary Jo (Joseph) Priselac, of San Francisco, Calif., Donna (Maurice) DeGroff, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Joseph H. Winzek Jr., Edward (Karen) Winzek, Janet (Joseph) Shadwick and Regina (Charles) Hipple, all from Glassport, Robert (Tracy) Winzek, of North Huntingdon, and Debra (William) Wilson, of Charlottesville, Va. Mary also had 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She is predeceased by brothers, George, Charles, Andrew and John Vargo; and sisters, Helen Popovich Ketter, Ann Stahl and Margaret Gagorik. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, and Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at E.C. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 235 Monongahela Ave., Glassport. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at E.C. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME by Father Dimitri D. Ermakov, Rector of Holy Virgin Dormition Russian Orthodox Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Virgin Dormition Russian Orthodox Church, 330 Shaw Ave., McKeesport, PA 15132.
