John N. "J.D." Digiacomo Sr., 87, of Glassport, died peacefully Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at home. He was born Nov. 15, 1927, in Clairton to the late Joseph and Margaret (DeFrancisco) Digiacomo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Eafrato) Digiacomo in 1998. John is survived by three sons, Joe (Carmel) Digiacomo, of Ormond Beach, Fla., John Digiacomo Jr., of Glassport, and Anthony (Denise) Digiacomo, of Lincoln Borough; daughter, Deborah (Clint) March, of Glassport; brother, Mario (Shirley) Digiacomo, of McKeesport; sister, Louis DeVito, of Glassport; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Grossi. John retired as a tester from Copperweld Corp., Glassport. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran, having served with the Army. John was a member of Queen of the Rosary, Glassport, Sons of Italy, Glassport, and Citizens Hose Company No. 1, Glassport, where he received a certificate of recognition for his 60 plus years of dedicated service as a volunteer fireman. John played football in high school and continued to be an avid football fan all his life. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at E.C. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 235 Monongahela Ave., Glassport, PA 15045. A blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in the funeral home, with Father Miroslaus Wojcicki officiating, followed by interment at Calvary cemetery.
