John W. Banaszak

John William Banaszak Sr., 65, of Clairton, formerly of Carrick, passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at home. He was born Sept. 16, 1950, in Pittsburgh, to the late Vincent F. and Dorothy Zak Banaszak. John is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jean Wolfe Giles Banaszak; sons, John W. (Tracy) Banaszak Jr., of Carrick, and Vincent A. (Joyce Roberts) Banaszak, of Baldwin; daughter, Cassandra (Patrick) Darroch, of New Brighton; stepson, Henry J. (Angi) Giles, of Glassport; stepdaughter, Lisa Giles, of Clairton; brothers, Robert (Terry) Banaszak, of West Mifflin, and Jimmy (Linda) Banaszak (John's twin); sisters, Dottie McPhee and Judy (Richard) Costello, of Finleyville; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews and his loving dogs, Harley and Toby. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Kopchinski. John was employed by Day Co. Trucking as a truck driver. Family and friends will be received from noon to 4 and 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St., Clairton, PA 15025. Service will take place 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at the funeral home. Interment will follow service at Birmingham Cemetery in Carrick. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in John's name to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
